Today's prompt is to write about a feline creature - tiger, panther, or a bit more domesticated.
Interruption
Seeing me busy,
with a swift silent leap
she’s on my desk,
pausing to lick her paws
nonchalantly
before she curls herself
on my keybemop

Yet another reason I do not have a cat.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me.
Yeah - I know. I don't have a cat now because I'm never home. This particular cat we called Bananas - because she was daffy, and clever. She'd lie on the open book I was reading, and on top of the TV set, draping her body down over the screen. She hated us to be attentive to things other than her - and I still miss her craziness after all these years.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you ignore her, Wanda?!

ReplyDeleteGreat poem, right down to the tail! I can relate-- two of my cats' favorite places are between me and my monitor and between me and the page of the book I am reading. I love 'em anyway!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, you captured it quite precisely! Not sure what the attraction is, but my kittens seem to like the keyboard, too, often pressing keys and making very bizarre things happen to the computer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteLove how the poem reflects the cat in form and in attitude, asserting nonchalance in the end. Thanks for the light touch, Wanda.
ReplyDeleteSweet poem Wanda.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Philadelphia with my roommate, her/our cats were notorious at doing this... they'd end up opening Word documents and writing gibberish with their bodies. Very amusing. ^_^
